CRIME IN CANCUN

American Media has often focused on crime in Mexico. So the question that comes to mind is Cancun
dangerous, is your family safe in Cancun?  Is it prudent to invest in Cancun?

Crime is a world wide fact. In many US Cities there is one murder each day. Mexico border towns and
drug trafficing centers are places to be avoided. The state of Quintana Roo, where Cancun is located
has a crime that is a fraction of any US City of similar size.

Why is this so? Some point to Cancun's strict gun control laws which make it near impossible to own
a hand gun. Of the violent crimes committed in Cancun each year most of these crimes are domestic crimes.

Crime follows the drug traffic. That is why Mexico's and US border towns are so lawless, these towns are the major intersections where vast amounts of drugs cross the US Border.  Cancun on the other hand is not on this drug tansportation route so it does not have the violent crime associated with other Mexican Cities.

The most dangerous elements in Cancun are the Sun, the Sea and the traffic. Use common sense
don't swim in rough conditions, protect your skin from the sun. If you are going to use alchol take a bus, don't drive.

A crowed bus can be a pickpockets favorite target. Keep your valuables safe. Enjoy Cancun a relatively safe city and probably a safer city than the US City you call home.

Night after night Fox News and other News Sources echo the same chorus, Mexico
is dangerous, don't travel there and don't invest there
. Are these headlines, sound clips and vivid photos of Mexican Crime a reality?

Consider the real source of the problem and ask yourself, 'Who buys the drugs crossing through Mexico into the U.S"?. Who manufactures the guns being sold to the Mexican drug cartels.
The Answer is 'AMERICANS'.  If Americans did not have the largest appetite for illegal drugs on the panet, there would few drug problems in Mexico, there would be less crime in Mexico and there would be far less crime in the US and Mexican Border Cities.

The U.S. is one of the largest manufacturer of firearms. Unfortunately some thoughtless American businessmen are selling these firearms to Mexican Drug Dealers. Now the Mexican Army is often outgunned by some of the Narco Trafficers, curtesy of the U.S.

Yes, there is serious crime in most of the US and Mexican Border Towns and Large Mexican Cities like Mexico City. But Cancun has less crime and is safer than any US city of similar size and less crime than most Caribbean Countries.

"It is not a coincidence that crime is low in Cancun and high in border towns like Juarez, a city of 1.6 million people on the Texas border-that is where the drugs are moving"- Routers Sunday March 1 .

Being a US Citizen from the Motor City, more appropiately called the Murder City or Broken City, where the mayor was recently imprisoned for impersonating a mayor while acting like a thug, not a unique activity for US Politicians, I enjoy a hearty laugh when Americans characterize Cancun as unsafe. "Where are you from I ask", this is a loaded question as any answer given will prove my point. ANY US CITY, DETROIT, LA, CHICAGO, MIAMI, PA, WASHINGTON, NEW YORK..........(you see where I'm going here), Any US  City is exponentially more dangerous than this gem on the Caribbean, Cancun.

In 20 years of living in Cancun I have never experienced any type of violent crime in Mexcio or cancun. I am treated far more respectfully in Mexico than I am treated in the US.

Indeed there is crime in Mexico and even in Cancun but would you move out of the U.S. or not travel to our own nation's capital because there is far more crime there. While I have not been affected by crime in Mexico I have been mugged and attacted less than one city block from the White House and in Detroit where my family lives.

I feel much safer in Cancun than in the U.S.. The Mexican people are the most likable, fun-loving and God-fearing People I have come to know.
