Easy-Cancun is one of the easiest Caribbean Destinations to travel to . Available by more non-stop flights of less than 5 hours from most US Cities. Security. I have lived in many US Cities and Cancun is far safer than any US City.
Infrastructure:
Cancun has 4 new modern 5-star hospitals offering the highest stantdards of quality care and often accepting US Health Care Insurance Programs.
Cancun's Hotels and New Condominiums are built to higher standards than US Building Codes,
I
know I was a US Home Builder. All the condominiums are built of reinforced concrete block that is why many of these structures have with stood 30 years of hurricanes. In the US similar structures would have been washed away.
Safety.
When trouble comes I would rather be in Cancun than in any US City. Here the Mexican Army
is prepared to aid and assist in times of inclimate weather. It makes the US's response to Katrina embarrassing. Before a major hurricane hits Cancun (one major hurricane every 10 years) the army is mobilized to assist moving people and protecting property.
Crime.
If there was not a veracious appetite for drugs in the US there would be little drug related crime in
all of Mexico. The US is directly responsible for Mexico's drug problems. The US is also the largest arms
supplier on the planet and US Criminals sell dangerous firearms to Mexican Drug Cartels.
That being said I live in one of the top 10 best cities in the US. I was in Mexico for 3 months in the winter of
2009 and traveled by bus extensively often the only American amoung thousands of Mexicans, I NEVER ONCE EXPERIENCED ANY TROUBLE OR CRIME. I WAS NEVER NERVOUS ABOUT ANY CRIME.
I returned to my US home only to witness one drug deal/hour in the park across from my house. When I called the local police they in so many words told me as long as no violence is involved we really don't have
time to respond. It became so bad it became a traffic issue. I called the police only to have the police respond and subject me to an interogation like I was the trouble maker, In other words, "don't rock the boat'.
I personally believe that as soon as drugs are legalized it will end many of our social problems. Like the ban of alcohol during prohibition, drug money has corruppted every level of the US governement.
Mexican Life: Mexican Social Standards are much more concervative than those in the US . As a single man of 50 I have been around the block a few times. I find the Mexican Culture in Cancun refreshingly open, free and hospitable. I feel more at home in Cancun than in the US. This is a friendly place. The Mayan people are humble, family and nature oriented and easy to love.
This is as close to paradise as man can achieve.
